The East West Bridge (EWB), an independent, international scientific and research organisation recognized by the European Union and the UNO, held its conference titled “East-West Relations – Italy and Mediterraneum, as the Fulcrum of Democracy” on the 11th December 2015 in Rome, in the wonderful Pinacoteca Tesoriere private palace.

 

H.G. Prof. George Popper, member of the EWB organization, Lieutenant General and Hungarian Grand Prior of the Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, Knights of Malta, Federation of the Autonomous Priories (KMFAP), attended the event of great interest.

 

In the main part of the meeting significant presentations were heard related to the central theme, the environmental protection and sustainable development. Following this took place the allocation of the awards, within the frames of which H.G. Prof. George Popper handed over awards and decorations to the following leaders of the organization, in recognition of their effective work:

 

• Mr. Jovan Kovacic, President of EWB – was honoured with the Grand Cross Knight of Security of the „Order of Security”

• H.E. Ambassador Igor Khalevinsky, President of the EWB Advisory Board – received the Gold Star with Diamonds of the „Order of Security”

• H.E. Aleksandar Nikolic, Chairman of the EWB Board of Governors – was awarded with the IBSSA Honorary Membership card and diploma

• Mr. Tahir Hasanovic, Executive Director of EWB – also received IBSSA Honorary Membership card and diploma

• Dr. Zoran R. Vitorovic, Executive Director of EWB Switzerland, President of the Association of Swiss Morning Star (ASMS) – was honoured with the Knight of the Sovereign Order of Cyprus decoration.

 

Lady Anna Popper received a very prestigious nomination, as the Goodwill Ambassador of ASMS.
