The humanitarian organisation of Knights of Malta (KMFAP), the FEMERAID International – Budapest Unit visits Italy

The Central-Buda Volunteer Civil Protection Association, as the FEMERAID International Budapest Unit had a trip to Italy. Four volunteers took part in this professional journey. First, they visited „Soccorso Amico”, the first aid training centre of FEMERAID Italy in Salerno. It was a very interesting and inspiring visit, and the centre has a wide range of first aid and emergency’s technique as well as training equipment. The director, Sir dr. Giuseppe Satriano and the Italian volunteers were very friendly and made a round trip in their central building with a short presentation on their activities. „Soccorso Amico” has numerous types of trainings, so our associations can fruitfully cooperate in many fields in the future.

Our Hungarian members spent two days in Salerno, and then continued their trip to Soverato, Italy, where the International Urban Search and Rescue exercise will take place in May 2014. The FEMERAID International Budapest Unit was invited to this joint operation, and our four volunteers went to pre examine the place of the exercise. The organiser of this exercise is the Edelweiss Volunteer Civil Protection Group, a civil protection association in the region of Calabria. Our Hungarian members spent two days here and got to know the function of the group and exercises of the upcoming joint practice. During the visit the FEMERAID International Budapest Unit and the Edelweiss Volunteer Civil Protection Group negotiated the possible roles during the exercises and the opportunities of further cooperation.

The trip to Italy was very inspiring, because our Hungarian volunteers got to know nice and skilled, well prepared colleagues and because of the very promising opportunity for further cooperation.
